THE PROGRAMME
1) Saturday 30 December :
- Welcome to Château de la Barre with a glass of champagne
- Afternoon tea with Countess de Vanssay by the fireside of the elegant Salon Rose drawing room
- Private visit of the château by the Count de Vanssay, 20th generation
- Buffet dinner in the billiard room, by the majestic XIVth c fireplace, with wine and cheese tasting
- Blind wine tasting game, the winner receives a bottle of champagne
- Game of billiards or relaxing film on the home cinema
- Night in one of the elegant rooms in the Château
2) Sunday 31 December :
- Breakfast/brunch
- Morning stroll through the 100 acre park of the château
- Visit the magnificently restored medieval Plantagenet city of Le Mans with its’ lively Christmas market
- Afternoon tea in the Salon Rose drawing room of the chateau by the roaring fireplace
- New Years’ Eve gala dinner hosted in the 18th c grand dining hall, with wine pairing
- Champagne tasting to celebrate 2024 in the imposing grand drawing room
- Giant live size Cluedo, in Agatha Christie style
3) Monday 1 January :
- Visit famous castle of Chenonceau (private guided visit possible at extra cost)
- Discover the 44 replicas of Léonard de Vincis’ key inventions in his house, the Clos Lucé
- Renaissance lunch in Leonardo da Vincis’ XIVth century priory (additional cost)
- Supper at Château de la Barre : Tasting of various champagnes with smoked salmon, foie gras and blinis and sorbets
4) Tuesday 2 January :
- Visit of most beautifully furnished Château de Cheverny, with amazing Christmas decorations (private guided visit possible at extra cost)
- Lunch at gourmet Orangerie of Cheverny castle
- Visit the Max Vauché chocolate factory
- Private after hours visit of the largest Loire Valley castle, Château de Chambord, followed by champagne served in the private hunting room or on the rooftops if weather permits (extra cost)
-Dinner at gourmet Michelin star restaurant, either L’Amour Blanc or Christophe Hay
5) Wednesday 3 janvier (départure) :
- Brunch
- Special New Years’ Eve present given by your hosts
· 2 nights stay mininum, either the 30 and 31st of December, or the 31st of December and 1st of January (possible to add on one or two days).
Price : From 2.180 € for 2 people sharing a room, and including 2 nights, one breakfast and one brunch, one cheese and wine tasting supper, or one supper with salmon and champagne, plus the grand Gala dinner of New Years’ Eve December 31st, champagne, wine and giant Cluedo. .
