Suite Marin de Vanssay
This sumptuous room follows the glorious tradition of the Loire Valley castles : opulence and refinement combined. As vast as it is elegant, it is decorated with precious fabrics, remarkable furniture and masterpieces. Its splendid view over the estate makes it a unique suite.
Marin de Vanssay, who married the great-granddaughter of the Chenonceau builders, built this sumptuous wing. There is no doubt that the spirit of the Loire castles is there. The blue and gold Rubelli damask fabric sets the tone for this exceptional room. The remarkable 18th century furniture and the masterpieces on the walls complete this model of refinement. The three windows “à meneaux” overlook the terrace, the garden, the pond, the river and the castle park.
It is certainly the most expensive of the castles’ rooms but also the most popular because the equivalents are very rare. King-size canope bed and an amazing bathroom, called “Le Salon d’eau” : an Italian shower and a jacuzzi bath, a double sink in a Louis XVI commode, all surrounded by 17th century tapestries. Discover the art of elegant bathing.
The hearty English breakfast, served on fine dishes, is offered with home-made jams and fresh seasonal fruit from the castle garden. You will thus savour the beginning of a beautiful and serene day in a peaceful lounge.
The Count of Vanssay will invite you, if you wish, for a visit of the castle, during which he will tie in the history of the Vanssay family with the History of France. The luxuriant park and the flowered garden of the castle invite you for a beautiful stroll into untouched nature.
