Grand Siecle Dinner

The Grand Siècle Dinner is an unforgettable and magical moment, a unique experience of French art of living. Be invited to enjoy the warm and elegant setting of La Grande Salle à Manger, an exquisite refinement, worthy of the aristocracy of the 18th century.

The evening begins with a Champagne Cocktail in the Salon Rose, a reception room that takes us back to the 16th century and the facilities designed by Marin de Vanssay. Surrounded by portraits of ancestors, exceptional furniture and rare Persian rugs, you will be charmed by this Renaissance drawing room with its colourful fabrics. This is an opportunity for all the guests present to get to know each other for the evening they will spend together.

Then, we adjourn to the Great Dining Room located in the 17th century wing. This splendid reception room is an invitation to refinement : embroidered damask tablecloth and napkins, family silverware, rare porcelain and antique crystal glasses… The Count and Countess de Vanssay, experienced in the art of entertaining, will preside the table and ensure you enjoy an elegant, fine, witty and often international dinner. In the middle of this very beautiful room, stands the extraordinary 17th century china cabinet which dominates your table illuminated by silver chandeliers.

The family cuisine served is made up of quality products, mainly local and seasonal, sometimes from the castle’s vegetable garden. Local producers also provide regional, fresh, tasty and authentic products. The wines carefully selected in the Château’s cellar ensure a perfect match between food and wine, most often from the terroir.

Finally, we head to the grand drawing room to continue the evening, with an alcohol (Cognac, Calva, brandy…) coffee, herbal tea or tea. This room, in its original state since 1778, is only open during the “Grand Siècle Dinners” and you will be seated in the 18th century furniture decorated with its original embroidery. Indeed, this extraordinary ensemble was made for the wedding of the Marquis de Vanssay in 1778 and has never left this room since.

On other dates and upon reservation, it is possible to have a dinner for two at 75 euros per person, wine not included, served in the small dining room or, weather permitting, outside on the terrace.
